Oklahoma House of Representatives State Rep. John Enns on Tuesday claimed that a quarter of teachers participating in a statewide walkout are paid actors, KOCO 5 News reports.

Kara Dore, a middle school teacher in Edmond, OK said she met with Enns at the state Capitol building. According to Dore, Enns said “about 25 percents of the people” participating in a walkout at the Capitol were paid actors.

News 9 reports Enns originally denied making the claim, but later affirmed that’s what he was told. He declined to reveal his source of that information.

Asked about his remarks by a KOCO 5 reporter, Enns repeated “there were paid protesters down here.”
