CIA Director Mike Pompeo, announced via Twitter as President Donald Trump's nominee for secretary of state, met secretly with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un over Easter Weekend, the Washington Post reported Tuesday night.

The "top-secret" meeting, the Post reported, was meant to set the groundwork for further talks with North Korea about their nuclear weapons program. Two sources briefed on the matter told the newspaper on condition of anonymity that Pompeo was sent to the country shortly after Trump's surprise dismissal of former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and subsequent nomination of the CIA director to replace him.
