Michael Avenatti hilariously mocks 'Renaissance man' Cohen for faking to be lobbyist while working as Trump's lawyer

Stromy Daniesl’s lawyer Michael Avenatti made his first appearance on the Rachel Maddow show on Wednesday.

"I've never had you on the show. I'm happy to have you," Maddow said.

She jumped right into the interview and asked him about newly released documents that claim President Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen received ongoing payments from a Russian oligarch.

Avenatti said that he initially released a lesser amount to see how the companies connected to the case responded.

"We knew about the additional $800,000 that Novartis had paid. We didn't include that in the report for a reason. We wanted to see what happened. We wanted to see if they actually came clean about it. And initially last night they did not. And then they found religion today and came clean about the additional $800,000," Avenatti said.

Avenatti went on to say that he is just a lawyer, therefore he is not an expert like Cohen.

"I hope everyone understands I'm only a lawyer. So I'm not a doctor or an accountant. I'm not an expert in FCC or telecommunications or real estate or business consulting or capital raising. I am not the Renaissance man, like  Michael Cohen," he said.
