Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) received intense backlash for his relationship with the National Rifle Association following yet another mass shooting in Texas, this time at Santa Fe High School.
“Heidi and I are keeping all the students and faculty at Santa Fe High School in our prayers this morning, along with all first responders on the scene,” Sen. Cruz tweeted after the shooting. “Please be safe and heed warnings from local officials.”
“Prayers” were not an adequate response for many Twitter users, many of whom bashed Sen. Cruz in context of his reelection campaign against Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX).
Here are some of the best responses, many of which used strong language:
F*ck your prayers & thoughts! Stop taking money from the NRA & protect our children! I’m a Texan & it’s literally one of your jobs! You are absolutely unbelievable. I can’t wait for you to no longer be a recurring embarrassment to my state.

Bullshit. Your prayers are WORTHLESS. Fucking take action on gun control. Your words mean nothing. https://t.co/IxFTbGSa8O

YOU are the problem. YOUR PRAYERS are NOT the solution. https://t.co/HhHLOTBNCf
