A hotel clerk at Country Inn & Suites in Newport News, Virginia yelled racial slurs at a customer, according to 13 News Now.
Irby Fogleman's mother-in-law was visiting town. The family's hotel room smelled like smoke so they asked for a new room.
“We get into the room, and smell smoke, and that was kind of alarming because she doesn’t smoke," Fogleman said.
When Fogleman requested a new room a hotel staff member started screaming racial slurs at him and called him a “f---ing monkey.”
Fogleman's wife recorded the video and said she was shocked. “I’ve seen it on Facebook. I’ve seen it on the news. I’ve seen it in other places. I think I was a little naive to think that it wouldn’t happen to us, and here we are now," she said.
Ben Gardeen, Vice President for Corporate Communications and Public Relations, said in a statement:
“Thank you for bringing this video to our attention. We are immediately conducting an investigation into this incident at our Country Inn & Suites by Radisson in Newport News, Virginia, an independently owned and operated property.
