While President Donald Trump's advisor said that there was a "special place in hell" for the Canadian Prime Minister, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow noted the president then turned around to smile and shake hands with a man known as an enemy.
To her, however, this was all part of the plan.
"I don't think it was a botch. I think the president went to the G7 with the intent of blowing it up," she said between panel discussions about the Singapore summit. "That's why he was late to everything. That's why he had the arms crossed. And then as soon as he was away and he didn't have to say it to their face, he blew it up on the flight to North Korea because there's something going on with our president."
Maddow went on to say she thinks there is something going on with him that believes there is a power play or advantage to "this spectacle he's created right now in Singapore to have blown things up with Canada and with the G7 and with our closest allies heading into it."
Fellow MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace noted that it is "very hard to have a fight with Canada."
