There are a lot of stories of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh being a drinker, a falling-down drunk, blacking out, throwing up in a taxi and more. But when Kavanaugh passed it off as something legal and not that big of a deal, he was lying.

MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell said that the Maryland laws changed before Kavanaugh even turned 18 to raise the drinking age to 21. So, Kavanaugh lied about legally drinking. He did it illegally.

It was 1984 when Congress passed the National Minimum Drinking Age Act, which raised the age to 21 years old. Kavanaugh was 20-years-old at that time. However, the state of Maryland passed a law raising it in 1982 before Kavanaugh turned 18.
