Sarah Sanders roasted for insisting ‘every single’ SCOTUS nominee deserves a vote: ‘Merrick Garland — remember him?’

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Tuesday insisted that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh deserved a fair hearing and an up-or-down vote -- just as "every single" other Supreme Court nominee has supposedly received.

During an appearance on "Fox & Friends," Sanders pushed for the Senate to get on with confirming Kavanaugh, and cited past precedence of other nominees getting votes shortly after their hearings.

"The president wants this process to come to a vote because that’s what’s supposed to happen in every single one of these instances where someone is nominated, they go before, they have a hearing, and then the senators vote on it," Sanders said.

However, that is not what happened with Judge Merrick Garland, who was nominated by former President Barack Obama and for whom Senate Republicans refused to even hold a hearing.

Sanders' comment that "every single" SCOTUS nominee gets a fair hearing and a vote drew hackles from many Twitter users -- check out the best reactions below.
