Fox News host Shepard Smith on Thursday talked to a man from Carolina Beach, North Carolina who had refused to evacuate despite Hurricane Florence.
The man explained that he was with his girlfriend and their pets. He said his plan was to relocate to a central part of Pleasure Island to avoid the flooding.
Smith wondered why he had decided not to evacuate.
"I had a feeling it would weaken. Flooding is always a concern. I thought it would be manageable," the man said.
"If the waters come up and you feel uncomfortable, is there a way for you to get out or are you trapped?" Smith asked.
But the man said he would be trapped.
"Well, I don't know, I'm not the parent here, so I won't -- I will wish you the best. Good luck to the girlfriend and the dogs and stuff,” Smith remarked.
