Democrats have taken to the Senate floor, demanding the upper chamber pass a House bill that would end the government shutdown.

The House has passed 10 bills thus far that give any number of possibilities of funding for border security to no avail. The Senate was scheduled to vote on two bills at 2:30 p.m. EST — one is the Democratic bill and another the GOP alternative.

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) has spent the past two weeks of impeachment hearings serving as one of President Donald Trump's fiercest defenders -- and it's made her the target of left-wing activists.

The hashtag #ByeByeElise became the top tending topic on Twitter Friday afternoon, as Twitter users taunted the New York Republican about the purported impending doom of her political career.

The hashtag appears to have been started by "The Ellen Show" executive producer Andy Lassner, who also encouraged his followers to donate money to Democrat Tedra Cobb, who will be running against Stefanik in New York's 21st congressional district.

As I argued on Thursday, the impeachment proceedings have delivered decisive evidence for a charge of bribery against President Donald Trump for his role in the Ukraine scheme. But most Republicans disagree. They argue that the testimony and evidence presented so far doesn’t show that Trump withheld congressionally approved military aid to induce Ukraine to give him something of value in exchange — investigations of his political opponents.
