President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is now the "de facto chief of staff," the New York Times Maggie Haberman reported via Twitter Tuesday.

Haberman said this information came as a "recurring theme from sources over last two days" and suggested that it's not universally understood, noting that the Kushner's ascent came "whether people realize it or not.”

The report came on the same day that former New Jersey governor Chris Christie noted that he blamed Kushner for pushing him out of Trump's inner circle.
