U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, Independent of Vermont, announced Monday evening he will be delivering his own response to President Donald Trump's State of the Union address Tuesday night.

Democrat Stacey Abrams, the former Minority Leader of the Georgia House of Representatives and the first Black woman major-party gubernatorial nominee in U.S. history will be delivering the official Democratic response. Abrams will also make history as the first Black woman to do so.

Many on social media expressed anger and outrage when Sen. Sanders made his announcement, which he did by retweeting news of Abrams' SOTU response.
