In an exclusive report, The Huffington Post revealed chat logs that show two Marines, two Army ROTC cadets, an Army physician, a member of the Texas National Guard and one member of the Air Force all belong to Identity Evropa, listed by the Anti-Defamation League and Southern Poverty Law Center as an extremist group.
The Post explained that Identity Evropa members use a server on Discord. “Last week the independent media collective Unicorn Riot published the contents of that Discord server in its entirety,” the report revealed.
According to the military branches, some military members were already under investigation from previous tips, but some of the men are only now being investigated. If they are found to have violated military rules about discrimination and extremism, they’ll likely be discharged. Military members cannot participate in any form of extremist activity.
Just last month, Coast Guard Lt. Christopher Hasson was arrested after an investigation revealed he was stockpiling weapons and researching ways to assassinate progressive leaders to create a “white homeland.”
HuffPo also noted that this isn’t the first time the military is being outed for extremist soldiers. In 2018, ProPublica and PBS’s “Frontline” uncovered military members who were part of a violent neo-Nazi group.
