On Monday, the Washington Post reported that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is stepping down from the Justice Department, effective May 11.

The resignation was broadly expected. Rosenstein initially planned to depart with the confirmation of Attorney General William Barr, but later decided to stay through the release of special counsel Robert Mueller's report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
