Trump-loving evangelical leader Jerry Falwell Jr. drew widespread ridicule after he wrote a paranoid tweet about a "Southern Baptist Convention Deep State" that's trying to harm Christianity.
Falwell on Tuesday morning ignited a feud with Russell Moore, the president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, in which he accused his fellow Christian leader of being part of "the SBC deep state regime trying to subvert the will of the church members."
Given the way that Falwell's talking points echo President Donald Trump's own ramblings about a "deep state" of government officials out to undermine his presidency, Falwell's tweet opened him up to brutal ridicule.
