Matt Gaetz drug and sex allegations 'should not be ignored': former GOP colleague

The constant "drip drip drip" of information about questions about Rep. Matt Gaetz's conduct filtering out of the House Ethics Committee should be cause for concern for both the Florida lawmaker and the Republican party he represents.

This past week it was revealed that the committee is continuing its inquiry into allegations that Gaetz paid for sex with underaged women and attended drug-fueled parties, and former Rep. Dave Jolly (R-FL) claimed that should be setting off alarms.

Donald Trump's own fans stood up to the ex-president on Friday, voicing their disapproval when he endorsed a woman known for appearing to perform adult acts during a Beetlejuice musical.

Trump before the weekend gave a full-throated endorsement to Lauren Boebert, who has been criticized for her frequent scandals, including being caught on a security camera engaging in X-rated activities during a musical theater production.

'We have to stop it a second time': Trump accused of invoking Jan 6. attack in interview

Donald Trump claims he was robbed of a second term back in 2020 and appears to want to go on the offensive to prevent a sequel.

"I had 63 million [votes]," he said in an interview snippet with his former press secretary Sean Spicer on "The Sean Spicer Show." "And I was told if I get 63 million we win easily... But when they rig and cheat, you know, there's not a lot you can do about that other than you have to stop it."

Judge Chutkan may have creative way to get a 'trial' on the books before election: expert

While the nation sweats out a Supreme Court decision as to whether or not Donald Trump is immune from criminal prosecution — U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia Judge Tanya Chutkan could still hold hearings or "mini trials" ahead of the November 5 election.

"It's going to be tough if there's a test to get that trial," said CNN legal expert Norm Eisen during a panel appearance on "The Situation Room."

Minnesota MAGA candidate lashes out after mockery for support of Ten Commandments law

Minnesota Republican Senate candidate Royce White got in yet another juvenile social media battle on Friday evening, after being mocked for his support of the controversial new Louisiana legislation requiring the Ten Commandments be posted in all state-funded classrooms.

White, a former basketball star and mixed martial artist, has picked several similar arguments online, including one where he outright challenged one critic to a fight, and another in which he mocked a critic's use of pronouns in his social media bio.

Philadelphians greet Trump with 'Your Nominee Is A Convicted Felon' billboard before rally

When MAGA country descends on Philadelphia this weekend, they will be greeted by at least one unflattering billboard: a composite image of Donald Trump wearing an orange jumpsuit next to the message, "YOUR NOMINEE IS A CONVICTED FELON."

A video of the unwelcoming signage was posted by Harry Sisson, a Gen Z influencer and activist.

'Not a good look': MAGA lawmaker torched over denial he killed bill on Trump's orders

A bipartisan border security bill earlier this year died after former President Donald Trump demanded the GOP not fix an issue they could try to attack President Joe Biden over during an election cycle. But House Republicans loyal to Trump are continuing to deny that was the reason — one of the loudest denials coming from Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL).

In fact, Donalds said on Newsmax in a discussion on the upcoming presidential debate next week, the House GOP was already opposed to the bill — because the text got leaked to them beforehand on social media.

GOP lawmaker's conspiracy theory that fires cost him election blown up by official

After a bitter primary with votes coming down to the wire, Freedom Caucus chairman Bob Good (R-VA) has not yet had his race called, but as the final ballots are tallied, it's looking grim for him, as he trails Trump-endorsed John McGuire by a few hundred votes. He has already pivoted to complaining the election was unfair — in particular accusing fires at election facilities of costing him the vote.

But that's not true, say Virginia state officials, according to Politico's Olivia Beavers.

The Louisiana governor who made national headlines this week when he signed legislation requiring public schools to display the Ten Commandments is now responding to questions about its dubious constitutionality by questioning whether separation of church and state even exists.

It has been less than a year since Teamsters Union President Sean O'Brien almost got into a fistfight with Republican Sen. Markwayne Mullen (OK). Now Donald Trump is celebrating the labor leader coming to the Republican National Convention.

Axios reported earlier in June that O'Brien was fishing for a speaking slot at the big GOP event. Trump announced on Friday that O'Brien will join the Republicans.

Republican lawmakers working on sweeping changes to Ohio election administration

Legislation in the Ohio House and Senate would make sweeping changes to the way Ohioans vote and how those votes are counted. Despite sterling post-election audits in Ohio and the arrival last year of strict new photo voter ID requirements, backers insist more must be done to secure the state’s elections.

Among their demands are provisions allowing hand-counted ballots, and new voting machine requirements that could force counties across the state to replace the voting machines they have. Moreover, certified voting machines don’t exist that would meet the bill’s standards, and hand-counting has been shown to be more time consuming and less accurate than the currently certified voting machines that do exist. The bill would also extend photo ID requirements to absentee voting — making voters include a photocopy of their ID with their completed ballot.

Good-McGuire matchup could head to a recount next month

Final results of the intra-GOP brawl in the 5th district between U.S. Rep. Bob Good and state Sen. John McGuire might be a ways off.

With McGuire’s lead of about 300 votes and yet-to-be received mail-in ballots, the race hasn’t been called in any candidates’ favor just yet. A busy week of work lies ahead for the Virginia Department of Elections to count votes and for the state’s Board of Elections to certify results on July 2. From there, the Good-McGuire matchup could be headed for a recount.

Maine GOP candidate pushes Sandy Hook, QAnon conspiracies — and that's just for starters

A Republican legislative candidate who has amplified the global QAnon conspiracy movement, shares memes comparing President Joe Biden to Nazis, and has said she still has questions about the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, stands by her belief that people can say and believe what they want.

Wendy Lee MacDowell is running against incumbent Democrat William Bridgeo for House District 60, which covers part of Augusta, in the November general election. Though both candidates were uncontested in the primary election, MacDowell said she believes voters should have choices and no candidate should run unopposed.
