Watch: Morning Joe hosts pounce on Trump's Milwaukee screwup — over beers

The co-hosts of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," kicked off Friday morning by mocking Donald Trump for calling Milwaukee — the host city for the Republican National Convention where he is expected to be anointed as the 2024 GOP presidential candidate — a "horrible city" when addressing lawmakers on Thursday.

And they did it while downing Milwaukee's Best Ice beer.

Cracking open the tallboys, Mika Brezinski and Joe Scarborough laughed at the GOP trying to clean up the former president's latest "gaffe" mess which has enraged the state of Wisconsin, a pivotal state in the 2024 election.

With Brzezinski grimacing while drinking her beer, Scarborough explained, "They can try to spin it. First, they lied because, of course, they're Trump Republicans, saying, ''Oh, he never said that.' And his spokesperson: 'Oh, that's BS, Trump never said that. Then, of course, we find out later — Mika, you hate beer, you don't have to pretend anymore — and then later, they admitted that he said it and were spinning the rest of the day."

"The fact is, let's just say what it is: Donald Trump trashed the most important city in the upcoming 2024 election. You know why? Because he's Donald Trump," he continued.

Conservative and Milwaukee resident Charlie Sykes contributed, "I mean, this is a farce inside of a fiasco. It was really interesting watching local Republicans struggling to get their stories straight after Donald Trump dumps on Milwaukee again."

Why 2020’s ‘fake elector’ schemes will be harder to try in 2024 – but not impossible

Electors will gather across the United States in December 2024, just weeks after the election, and formally cast votes for president and vice president. They will send their votes to Congress, which will count them and determine who received the most votes. Typically, the casting of electoral votes is little more than a ceremonial process.

But the last time this process happened – in 2020 – it was anything but typical.
In seven states, in addition to the official electors, others calling themselves electors met and purported to cast votes for Republican Donald Trump on Dec. 14. They did this even though Democrat Joe Biden had carried their states in the November election. They sent their votes to Congress just like the official electors. When the electoral votes were counted on Jan. 6, 2021, some in Congress argued these purported alternative electoral votes meant the outcome of the election was still in doubt.

Many of those purported electors now face criminal prosecution. Some may be convicted. And the odds of purported electors trying again in 2024 are less likely – but still possible.

'We are not the crazy ones - they are the craven ones': GOP pollster on her own party

A super-cut of Republican lawmakers attacking Donald Trump began Thursday's episode of "Deadline White House."

Trump: Tim Scott 'wasn’t a good presidential candidate' but is 'a great surrogate'

During the 2024 GOP presidential primary, Sen. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) was, at times, critical of frontrunner Donald Trump. But it was mild criticism compared to the scathing anti-Trump attacks coming from fellow primary candidate Chris Christie, former two-term governor of New Jersey.

Now, Scott is reportedly on Trump's short list for a possible running mate, along with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida), Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum.

'Guilty, guilty, guilty': Adam Schiff roasts GOP by quoting Trump's Manhattan verdict

During a House Judiciary Committee hearing convened by chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) to discuss the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's prosecution of former president Donald Trump, Rep. Adam Schiff used his time to troll the Republican-dominated committee by reminding them that their putative leader is a convicted felon.

Granted his five minutes, the California Democrat began, "I wanted to begin by quoting the jury in the Manhattan hush money trial," at which point he stated the word "guilty" 34 times [editor's note: we counted] reflecting the end result of the trial.

He then continued, "This was what the jury pronounced. Unanimously on every count. My Republican colleagues don't really contest Donald Trump's guilt. This is the fascinating thing; their argument has been he should never have been prosecuted. Where they falsely claim it was a political prosecution. They falsely claim it should have been a misdemeanor, not a felony."

"But they don't contest, not really, that Donald Trump was making hush money payments to a porn star to hide their affair from voters," the former prosecutor continued. "What they are really saying is they're comfortable electing and nominating someone as president of the United States someone who made hush money payments to a porn star."

Jealous Trump still complaining about Taylor Swift endorsing 'dope' Biden: report

Former President Donald Trump was on Capitol Hill Thursday to speak to Republican Party lawmakers, and he is still talking about pop star Taylor Swift.

A news report earlier this week revealed Trump's shock that Swift was not a fan of his, a long-held opinion of hers that surfaced during the 2020 election cycle. According to a new book by Variety editor Ramin Setoodeh, Trump couldn't understand why a "country" star wouldn't support him. Swift evolved from country music to pop with her album in 2014, a New York Times report explained.
