Though typically the idiom “second to none” is a compliment, for former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, it means her third defeat in the Republican presidential nomination process. And a humiliating one.

‘Su voto es su voz’: Latinos, how important is your vote during this year’s elections?

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Bianca Carreon learned from her father how important it is to vote. “I do it because my dad is an immigrant,” Carreon, 20, said. “He finally got his papers, but he always says, ‘If we don’t vote, we’re giving up our freedom and our voice being heard.’” She’ll be voting for the second time this year. While Carreon, a Fresno City College student, realizes Latinos often doubt that their voices will actually be heard, she thinks they will. Julián Castro thinks so, too. On a tour of California as the new CEO of the Latino Community Foundation, he echoed the rallying cry of Chic...

Trump's 'bizarre' new Indiana conspiracy theory has Republicans sounding the alarm

Former President Donald Trump has turned his anger on the state of Indiana, accusing officials there of conspiring to rig the election to help former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley defeat him — and state officials there are unnerved by it, reported Politico.

Moreover, said the report, they fear this could morph from a "bizarre subplot" of the primary season into a test run for Trump to once again try to obstruct election results — something he did in 2020, which led to multiple criminal indictments.

SC judicial elections gridlocked. Calls for judicial reform stifle election process

In a move reflecting growing discontent with the way South Carolina elects its judges, the state Senate is blocking all judicial elections — including that of the next state Supreme Court Justice — short of the General Assembly passing a bill on judicial reform. Judicial elections are a key function of the South Carolina General Assembly and the House expected to fulfill that function Wednesday. The Senate does not share that expectation, and has instead demanded that the Legislature first effectively address judicial reform before any judicial elections take place. “A substantial number of Se...

Appeals court hinted Trump may be disqualified under 14th Amendment: conservative ex-judge

Retired former Judge Michael Luttig, a conservative, has advocated that Donald Trump is ineligible to serve as president based on Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. But now he thinks he has the encouragement of the Washington, D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals behind him.

Speaking to MSNBC's Ali Velshi on Tuesday, the two referred to the recent decision to strike down Trump's argument for "presidential immunity" from criminal prosecution. In that decision, Luttig said, is a hint that refers back to the 14th Amendment case.
