'Donald is a coward' – and it's left China 'laughing its way to the bank': MS NOW panel

Using Donald Trump’s attack on Venezuela as a leaping-off point, Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) and international risk management expert Ian Bremmer jumped on the president for ignoring a substantially bigger threat that China poses to the U.S.

Noting that the president seems obsessed with Venezuela's natural resources — mainly oil — as one of his main reasons for securing the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro, Bremmer said Trump is missing the boat, much to China’s delight.

Alarm raised as Trump-invented rebrand threatens closest allies

Donald Trump’s coining of the term “Donroe Doctrine” to justify his invasion of Venezuela to take President Nicolás Maduro and his wife from their home and bring them to the U.S. should alarm leaders of every country, according to an expert in international relations.

Appearing on MSNBC's “Morning Joe,” Ian Bremmer, founder of the Eurasia Group which analyzes international political risk, stated that the president has created a new “brand” for himself, which distracts from the other problems plaguing his administration, and now will likely double down.

'Go home': DHS official urges Venezuelans in US to self-deport following Maduro's arrest

A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said on Sunday that Venezuelans living in the U.S. with temporary protected status should self-deport following the capture of the country's dictator.

On Saturday morning, the Trump administration sent military forces to Venezuela to detain dictator Nicolás Maduro. Maduro and his wife were then swiftly brought to the U.S., where they will stand trial for narco-terrorism and gun charges. Some legal experts have said the move exceeded Trump's authority as president, and calls for the president to be impeached began to grow following the move.

'Jaw dropping': Ex-Trump appointee skewers president for 'very concerning' post-strike act

Whether the Trump administration was right to capture Venezuela's leader or not, it's what the president did next that is "very dangerous," according to a former Trump appointee.

Matthew Bartlett, who was appointed to the State Department by President Trump during his first term, appeared on MS NOW over the weekend and was asked about how Venezuelans will be impacted. Specifically, the host asked, "What did you learn from working around this region about what an action like what happened yesterday, what that can do to the stability of the region?"

'Like sepsis': Ex-GOP lawmaker says MAGA is being eaten alive by an incredible 'infection'

MAGA is being split into multiple pieces, but the source is less like a knife and more like a slow-moving "infection," according to a former GOP lawmaker.

Former "Tea Party" Republican Rep. Denver Riggleman (VA), a Trump-skeptic Republican who helped assist the House Select Committee on January 6 with its investigation, has previously sounded the alarm about purportedly dangerous Republicans rising to power.

Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT), the top-ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, argued Sunday that his House colleague Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) had just moments earlier accidentally given “the game away” by revealing President Donald Trump’s disregard for the legislative branch of government, and his method of weaponizing his own party's capitulation.

Jordan appeared on CNN Sunday and, when asked about the contradictions between Trump’s purported “America First” ideology and his unprecedented attack on and takeover of Venezuela on Saturday, repeatedly claimed that he trusted Trump’s judgement.

'Trump's admitting it': Resurfaced video reveals president's pre-election Venezuela goal

Before the 2024 election, Donald Trump made comments about Venezuela that are now being resurfaced after the president announced a successful mission to "capture" the nation's leader and his wife.

Ret. Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling is among those who have been critical of the Trump administration's decisions surrounding Venezuela. Trump declared he plans to have the U.S. take control over the country, as opposed to letting the nation's constitution do its job, and didn't rule out having U.S. boots on the ground.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) took to CNN Sunday to defend President Donald Trump’s unprecedented attack and takeover of Venezuela as being “America first,” but was quickly rebuked after floating a debunked claim about the South American nation’s role in drug trafficking.

“[Trump] says he's running Venezuela, he's totally open to putting boots back on the ground there, and he's signaling that Cuba and Colombia could be next,” said CNN’s Dana Bash. “How is that America first?”

'Very dangerous': Lawmaker says Trump accidentally 'revealed his hand' on military plans

Donald Trump on Saturday accidentally "revealed his hand" when it comes to his plans for Venezuela and perhaps other nations, according to a congresswoman.
