'Despicable': Lawmaker tears into Trump's DHS chief after mayor's 'targeting'

Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-IL) laid a smackdown on Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on MSNBC, over the ongoing effort to prosecute Newark, New Jersey Mayor Ras Baraka.

Baraka, a progressive candidate for governor, joined a protest along with several members of Congress at Delaney Hall, a large, privately-operated detention facility being used by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in contravention of local laws prohibiting such facilities from operating in the area. He was arrested on trespassing charges, which he disputes and claims he had every right to investigate the facility for the well-being of his community. Noem defended all of this at a congressional hearing this week, which Ramirez is a member of.

Republican scoffs at GOP colleagues 'playing hardball' with Trump's bill: 'Not gonna work'

Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-SD) laid out clearly on CNN Thursday evening that Northeast Republicans trying to play hardball for full repeal of the state and local tax deduction cap are not going to get their way, and they had better get with the program and accept a compromise in President Donald Trump's budget bill.

Repealing the SALT cap, which was itself passed in Trump's first tax bill in 2017, has become a massive sticking point for Republicans in New York in particular, triggering faction-fighting within the caucus. GOP leadership is currently offering to raise the SALT cap rather than repeal it outright, but multiple GOP lawmakers are refusing to accept that as the deal.

‘Mad king’: Trump rebuked as he teases '4th' term to troops sworn to protect Constitution

During a rally-style appearance before uniformed U.S. troops in Qatar on Thursday, President Donald Trump—serving as their commander-in-chief—floated the idea of a “fourth” term and falsely claimed victory in the 2020 election he lost. The appearance drew swift criticism for blurring the line between military service and political theater.

“As you know, we won three elections, okay?” Trump told the largely silent troops (video below). “And some people want us to do a fourth. I don’t know—I’ll have to think about that.”

'Don't interrupt me': CNN conservative Scott Jennings admonished by fellow strategist

CNN's Scott Jennings got a scolding when he interrupted a Democratic strategist discussing Thursday's Supreme Court arguments on Donald Trump's desire to do away with automatic birthright citizenship.

"This is what I don't get," Lis Smith began on Thursday's "The Arena" with Kasie Hunt. "It is pretty crystal clear in the Constitution, if you're born here, you get citizenship. And, why is Donald Trump picking this fight? Only 25% of voters support getting rid of birthright citizenship; less than 50% of Republicans do. And, you know, I'm not in the business of giving Donald Trump advice."
