'Cruel': Trump blasted over quiet new order targeting most 'vulnerable'

President Donald Trump quietly released an executive order Thursday that advocates say will make homelessness worse.

The order, titled "Ending Crime and Disorder on America's Streets," directs multiple federal agencies to discontinue funding services such as Housing First, Safe Consumption Sites, and other harm reduction practices. It also directs states to detain people with serious mental illnesses regardless of "forensic bed capacity at appropriate local, State, and Federal jails or hospitals."

CNN legal analyst Paula Reid was taken aback Thursday evening at the announcement made by the Justice Department following a day of questioning convicted Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell — a move that experts have already regarded as suspicious.

‘Fight of our lives’: Trump’s ‘aggressive whitewashing’ at national parks triggers alarm

A National Parks organization sounded the alarm Thursday on CNN over the Trump administration's move to remove national acknowledgment of historical facts such as slavery, the treatment of Native Americans and climate change.

CNN anchor Jake Tapper noted that a group of historians and rangers is fighting back against what they say is an "attempt to whitewash and erase history." That comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order in March known as “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History.” The order directed the National Park Service and the Department of the Interior to review all interpretive materials in national parks, such as plaques, exhibits, signs, and educational content, for information that could be considered as "inappropriately disparaging Americans."

'Looks like a cover-up!' Ethics expert slams DOJ's 'unsavory' talk with Ghislaine Maxwell

The Justice Department's attempt to extract new testimony from convicted Jeffrey Epstein conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell is a parade of red flags, warned former White House ethics czar Norm Eisen on MSNBC's "The Lead" Thursday — and in fact, it only adds another dimension to why the whole affair is blowing up even among President Donald Trump's base.

"Norm, do you see this as kind of ethically murky for a few reasons?" said anchor Antonia Hylton. "I mean ... [Deputy Attorney General] Todd Blanche, having served in a personal capacity for the president. And then I was reminded today that Blanche actually, at one point, went on David Markus' — that's Maxwell's attorney's — podcast. They know each other in a sort of social or at least casual way. So do you see something ethically murky here?"

'Incredibly awkward': Trump and Powell's 'remarkable' presser leaves CNN in disbelief

CNN's Alayna Treene tried to keep up in response to President Donald Trump's heated press conference alongside Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, after his apparent attempt to demonize the U.S. central banker over agency building renovations blew up in his face in a moment fellow correspondent Kaitlan Collins deemed "remarkable."

"I think it's worth noting, by the way, that the markets are closed, because they do not really like it when Donald Trump suggests that perhaps he's going to throw Jerome Powell out of a job, but there you have it," said anchor Kasie Hunt. "What do you make of what we just saw, and what has your reporting been?"

'He screwed up': Pete Hegseth called out by veteran after report kneecaps scandal defense

Paul Rieckhoff, the founder of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, blasted Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over the Signal scandal that won't die.

A new report from The Washington Post on Wednesday revealed that the document Hegseth copied into a Signal chat was marked "SECRET." It refutes his ongoing claim that nothing in the chat, which included a journalist, contained any classified information. Hegseth has the power to declassify the information, but doing so would be an admission that it was classified in the first place.
