'So what?' Ex-aide shares Trump's reaction when told Mike Pence's life was at risk

In his election interference case against Donald Trump, special counsel Jack Smith is trying to show how the former president responded when the U.S. Capitol Building was under attack on January 6, 2021. Smith, according to ABC News, has uncovered new details about that response — details that ABC News' Jonathan Karl discussed during a Monday appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

Karl told conservative host Joe Scarborough, "These are really the defining hours of the Trump presidency: what Trump was doing in the White House while the attack was underway. We've heard from Liz Cheney; we've heard from others. But now, what the special counsel has done is they've methodically gone through and spoken to everybody who was with Trump during that time — people that refused to talk to the January 6 Committee, like Dan Scavino, perhaps Trump's closest aide in the White House."

Donald Trump blamed the Civil War on Abraham Lincoln in a campaign speech over the weekend, but conservative Charlie Sykes said his sourcing was implausible.

'I don't know how he pays it': Trump's future in doubt facing $370 million fine

Reacting to New York Attorney General Letitia James increasing to $370 million the fine she wants to be imposed on Donald Trump for financial fraud, "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough suggested it would ruin the former president because he likely doesn't have that kind of cash.

After co-host Mika Brzezinski reported on the stunning change requested in Judge Arthur Engoron's courtroom on Friday, the two hosts shook their heads at the former president's prospects if Engoron accedes to James' request when he makes a final ruling next month.

"The New York Attorney General is now seeking $370 million as a penalty against Donald Trump and his company, just slightly up from the last request," Brzezinski reported before adding, "Closing arguments are scheduled for Thursday. Trump is expected to appear in court for that to find out how much he has to pay for what he's already been found [guilty of]."

"For his sake, I hope it is, like, $25.75. I mean, he does not have that money," co-host Scarborough interjected.

"She's asking for a lot, I wonder what happens if she gets it?" Brzezinski asked.

"I don't know how he pays it, I don't think he is capable. I don't think he has that much money," Scarborough pointed out.

Trump leaning into his criminality because Republicans love his crimes: Morning Joe

Donald Trump has been leaning into the crimes that he's been charged with committing, and MSNBC's Joe Scarborough concluded that his supporters actually approve of him breaking the law.

The twice-impeached former president has been indicted four times on 91 counts, found liable for fraud and sexual assault, and disqualified from two states' ballots for violating the Constitution's insurrectionist clause, but his lawyers insist Trump should be immune from prosecution and called for special counsel Jack Smith to be held in contempt for working on the case before that appeal is decided.

MSNBC panel laughs at Elise Stefanik's humiliating 'audition' to be Trump's running mate

Three former Republicans appearing on MSNBC on Sunday afternoon burst out laughing at a clip of a manic Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) rattling off reasons why she would consider being Donald Trump's running mate should he make it to the November ballot.

During an appearance on NBC's "Meet The Press," the New York Republican breathlessly ticked off how proud she would be to be a part of a second Trump administration before guaranteeing the four-time indicted ex-president would win as she beamed at host Kristen Welker.

"Stefanik hit almost all of the MAGA talking points," MSNBC host Alex Witt prompted. "Couple questions here: I'm curious, might they be coordinating? Do you think she reaches out and says, 'What kind of verbiage should I use?' Is she auditioning to be Trump's vice president? Can you see her appeal for Trump?"

"There is no one in America running harder for Trump's vice presidential slot than Elise Stefanik. That is it," former GOP Rep. Dave Jolly (FL) smirked causing co-panelists Kurt Bardella and GOP strategist Susan Del Percio to start laughing.
