MSNBC's Mika sticks knife in Donald Trump's mental decline 'sarcasm' defense

After regular "Morning Joe" panelist Jonathan Lemire interrupted a discussion about Joe Biden's accomplishments as president to report that Donald Trump was defensively posting about accusations he is in mental decline, co-host Mika Brezinski smirked — and then shot it down.

In a rambling post early Monday morning, the former president claimed that when he mistook Barack Obama for Joe Biden, he was being sarcastic, writing, "No, I know both names very well, never mix them up, and know that they are destroying our Country. Also, and as reported, I just took a cognitive test as part of my Physical Exam, and ACED it. Also ACED (a perfect score!) one taken while in the White House."

Atlantic writer slaps back at 'sociopath' Trump over Truth Social attack

Following an extended diatribe by MSNBC "Morning Joe" Joe Scarborough aimed at Donald Trump's ugly rhetoric as he makes a third bid for the presidency, Atlantic writer Peter Wehner fired back at the former president, who flipped out on the Atlantic over a piece the former GOP speechwriter wrote about him.

On Saturday, Trump lashed out on Truth Social, writing, "It’s so good to see how badly the THIRD RATE MAGAZINE, The Atlantic, is doing. It’s failing at a level seldom seen before, even in the Publishing Business. False and Fake stories do it every time! They’ve got a rich person funding the ridiculous losses, but at some point, rich people get smart also. Steve Jobs would not be proud of his wife, Laurene, and the way she is spending his money. The Radical Left is destroying America!"

Trump's 'America sucks' Thanksgiving weekend meltdown torn apart by Morning Joe panel

Led by co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mike Brzezinski, MSNBC's "Morning Joe" panel on Monday ripped into Donald Trump for his 2 AM Thanksgiving morning rage-post on Truth Social, which was followed by a holiday weekend of more angry diatribes on the social media platform.

The segment kicked off with the two hosts alternately reading segments of the post that began, "Happy Thanksgiving to ALL, including the Racist & Incompetent Attorney General of New York State, Letitia 'Peekaboo' James, who has let Murder & Violent Crime FLOURISH, & Businesses FLEE; the Radical Left Trump Hating Judge, a 'Psycho,' Arthur Engoron, who Criminally Defrauded the State of New York, & ME, by purposely Valuing my Assets at a “tiny” Fraction of what they are really worth in order to convict me of Fraud before even a Trial," before the former president concluded with raging at, "all of the other Radical Left Lunatics, Communists, Fascists, Marxists, Democrats, & RINOS, who are seriously looking to DESTROY OUR COUNTRY. Have no fear, however, we will WIN the Presidential Election of 2024, & MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!"

Noting the four-times indicted president's post wasn't exactly in the Thanksgiving spirit, host Scarborough summed it and other posts throughout the weekend as Trump stating unequivocally "America sucks."

"Talk about how sick it is to say that America is a rotten nation before you were president of the United States, American carnage, and then you become president of the United States and America has four of the most tumultuous years later, and the second he leaves and is blamed by the American people, he goes back to saying that America sucks again," said Scarborough. "How grotesque that Donald Trump only thinks America is great when Donald Trump is president."

"Yeah, because he doesn't care about America nearly as much as he cares about himself," replied former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO).

When Trump speaks 'he is a clear and present danger': legal analyst

Discussing an upcoming ruling on a gag order issued by Judge Tanya Chutkan, MSNBC legal analyst Danny Cevallos told host Alex Witt that judges on the D.C. Court of Appeals have to keep in mind that, when Donald Trump rants about court workers, their lives are endangered.

"Here's an indisputable fact," he told the host. "When Trump speaks, they [his followers] do stupid things – that is an undisputed fact."

"So the next step is, in this analysis, do we curtail Donald Trump's speech because of this behavior of other people that are not Donald Trump?" he suggested. "And the answer may be as simple as 'yes' because when he speaks it presents a clear and present danger. It needs that exacting standard."

After some technical difficulties with his audio, he explained Trump is not like "some criminal defendant no one's ever heard of. If he doesn't like the judge or doesn't like the clerk, he can shout all he wants, he can yell out the window, tweet to his 30 followers, and it just won't have the effects. Maybe never in American history has one human being had this effect when they speak."

"That is why this is a unique situation," he added. "It may simply be the case that Donald Trump is entitled to less speech because of how dangerous the speech can be, unlike anybody else in American history."

'Fat cat' GOP lawmakers leveled by former senior aide over 'the monster that became Trump'

During an appearance on MSNBC on Sunday morning a former senior aide who worked for congressional Republicans lashed out at the direction the party is still taking and its continuing allegiance with the embattled Donald Trump.

Speaking with MSNBC fill-in host Charles Coleman Jr., Rina Shah called out GOP lawmakers who "still bear responsibility for the monster that became Trump."

Explaining how Trump has taken over the party," she told the host, "He spoke to these Americans who were so frustrated with members of Congress that just didn't serve them. They had this anger, that visceral anger is still very much there. They feel like these members of Congress are fat cats serving themselves and there's all this evidence that shows that is true."

"You can't get out of that lane unless you do a hard pivot," she suggested. "So, yes, there's a lot of people within today's GOP that still bear responsibility for the monster that became Trump. But I think, at this point, it's the only way to save the party — and that's why I remain and I believe we need two healthy parties at least in the system in order for our democracy to thrive and that's why we still remain right-of-center."

'Zero chance': Trump Georgia lawyer's ploy to get confidential DOJ evidence shot down

A bid by Donald Trump's lead attorney in the Georgia racketeering case to force Department of Justice investigators pursuing the Trump election federal case in a D.C. courtroom to hand over their evidence was shot down by former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade.

In short, she told MSNBC host Katie Phang: " Zero chance."

During an appearance on MSNBC early Sunday morning, McQuade was asked about Trump attorney Steve Sadow asking for evidence the DOJ has compiled on Trump's actions surrounding the Jan 6 insurrection that will be used in Judge Tonya Chutkan's courtroom next year.

"His criminal defense lawyer has actually asked the Fulton County judge to have the federal prosecutors who are in the Judge Chutkan D.C. election interference case to turn over its list of evidence which is otherwise being held confidentially up in D.C. so that Sadow can determine if there is relevant evidence from that D.C. case to use for the defense down in Georgia," host Phang prompted. "How successful is Sadow going to be to obtain the evidence list that is otherwise not up for public consumption?"

"Yeah, I think there is zero chance of getting that," McQuade quickly replied. "These are separate sovereigns who are engaging in separate prosecutions. Although [Fulton County DA] Fani Willis has a duty to turn over any evidence she's going to use in the trial and any evidence that is exonerating for the defense and the right to a fair trial, she doesn't have access to what's going on in federal court and neither does the defense. "

"They have absolutely no duty to turn this over," she added. "I think they play these strategies so often, even when they know there is zero chance of prevailing, to have another issue to complain about it in the press and show supporters how unfair the process is. That's absolutely not true; it's one more thing to complain about."
