'Not going away': Ex-GOP rep hurls Trump Jr.'s old tweets back at president

Former Illinois Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger had a lot to say Wednesday about how the fallout of the Jeffrey Epstein files has impacted President Donald Trump's administration.

The Epstein files have become one of Trump's biggest political liabilities over the last week. His MAGA base erupted with anger after Trump's Department of Justice issued a memo contradicting essential parts of the Epstein narrative. The memo said Epstein died by suicide in jail and that he did not keep a list of clients. Both of these points are at odds with the narrative that Trump and his surrogates have been telling the MAGA faithful for years.

Trump will likely fold on dumping his 'punching bag': CNN panel

President Donald Trump will likely back down in his war against Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, a CNN panel suggested on Wednesday, following weeks of the president suggesting he may end up firing the Fed chair over his refusal to lower interest rates.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) said that Democrats have been asking for the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files for years — and that President Donald Trump should want to clear his own name.

Swalwell complained that Republicans pretend that they want to see the files, but in a vote on Tuesday they blocked a measure that would have ordered the Justice Department to release the information, which many believe will link powerful people with the pedophile.

'What more can she do?' Trump launches angry tirade defending Bondi

During a press availability event ostensibly to discuss relations with his guest, Bahrain Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Donald Trump was once again cornered over Attorney General Pam Bondi's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files.

On the same day that the president went off on his own base for obsessing over Epstein, which has caused a rift among the MAGA faithful, Trump's anger reared its head when pressed on Bondi once again.

After it was pointed out that Bodi has been "inconsistent" when discussing the infamous Epstein client list, the president snapped.

"I can say that Pam Bondi, I really think that she's done very good," he protested. "She says, I gave you all the credible information and if she finds any more credible information, she'll give that to you. What more can she do than that?"

"I mean, honestly, what more can she do?" he repeated with his voice rising. "And we do have bigger problems. You know, we have problems with millions of illegal people that came in here and they're killers and murderers. We have 11,888 murderers that were allowed into our country by Biden, sleepy Joe Biden, stupid Joe Biden, he allowed them into our country and you know what we got to do something about?"

"She's got a lot of things she's working on," he said, returning to the attorney general. "And, you know, it's very sad that somebody can be waylaid -- they just get waylaid but she's, she's, I think she's doing a great job."

MSNBC panel fights to suppress laughter during Lauren Boebert interview clip

As part of the unrelenting coverage of the Jeffrey Epstein files firestorm that is consuming Donald Trump and the Department of Justice, MSNBC's Anna Cabrera shared a clip of Rep, Lauren Boebert (R-CO) attempting to be helpful.

That, in turn, led to smirks and barely suppressed laughter from her panel.

On Tuesday, the Colorado Republican told conservative podcaster Benny Johnson, "Of course we want answers. No one is satisfied with what has been received or lack thereof. No one is satisfied with the rollout of this," before adding, "That has got to happen. There has to be a special investigation into this if we aren’t going to be provided information. This is certainly important and I want answers, and maybe that takes that special counsel to do so. Maybe Matt Gaetz can lead the special counsel.”

After watching the clip, former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade began laughing, MSNBC reporter Julie Tsirkin smirked and looked away and host Cabrera busted out a grin.

"Hmm, " Cabrera laughed. "Is there any real support for Boebert's idea there on Capitol Hill?"

"Well, certainly among people like Boebert, deep in the MAGA space that support continuing to investigate this issue," Tsirkin replied. "I will tell you, though, that even somebody as senior like Jim Jordan, who, of course, chairs a very important committee here, the Judiciary Panel, he is not interested at all in going down this road. He was pressed several times about it yesterday, and he continued to say that he stands with the president and he stands behind what his administration is doing here."
