Republicans in the Senate have "had enough" with their House counterparts — and are "jumping in front" of them on reconciliation, according to Punchbowl News.
On X, reporter John Bresnahan said Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) expects GOP senators "to mark up a defense-border-energy resolution next week in the Senate Budget Committee."
Both Graham and Sen. John Thune (R-SD) said they doubt House Republicans can "do a resolution."
The report comes as Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) told the press Wednesday morning that the House was taking the lead on the matter, however.
Punchbowl colleague Jake Sherman called it "big news" that "the Senate has had enough and is jumping in front of the House on reconciliation."

Johnson responded to Graham's news saying, “He has to understand the reality of the House. It's a very different chamber with very different dynamics, and the House needs to lead this if we're going to have success," said CNBC reporter Emily Wilkins.
Graham told Bresnahan they expect a "$300B budget resolution marked up in Senate Budget Committee as soon as next week." It means "$150B each for border security and Pentagon/defense. It will be offset, per Graham."
Graham also said, "This new funding would cover 4 years," wrote Bresnahan.
A tax reporter quoted Graham saying something similar, that "he has $150 billion (paid for) over a 4 year period on both border and defense, says nothing on having tax."
Fox News correspondent Chad Pergram relayed that Graham said "It's time for the Senate to move. I think it's very important that we get Tom Homan the money he needs to complete the plan that President Trump promised. That means more ICE agents, build the wall, finish technology to secure the border, and, you know, increase bed space so you don't have to let people go. That can only happen with new money."
"So we're looking somewhere around $150 billion for border security, somewhere in that range, for the military to help them with their needs, given the threats we have. It's going to be paid for. So we will instruct committees, authorizing committees, to go find pay-fors that are reconciliation compliant, so that this thing is basically paid for, and I hope to start it as early as next week," Graham said according to Pergram.
