Rep. Maxine Dexter (D-OR) caused a stir Tuesday when she amplified her vocal opposition to President Donald Trump and his administration with a profanity-laced rallying cry.
The moment came at the American Federation of Government Employees, orAFGE, protest on Capitol Hill when the freshman Oregon lawmaker took the stage surrounded by cheering demonstrators.
While her brief remarks started out standard, they took a turn when she appeared to give in to the moment after telling the crowd she had only 30 seconds. “So, I am going to tell you that we do have to…” Dexter said before gesturing with her hands.
“I don't swear in public very well, but we have to f--- Trump!” Dexter said to applause in the crowd. “Please don't tell my children that I just did that!”

When the crowd calmed down, Dexter said she would work to pass the “Stop Musk Act” – her first bill introduced last week – meant to “protect federal employees from retaliation for preventing, resisting and circumventing Elon Musk's unlawful actions.”
She acknowledged on stage it likely won’t advance through the GOP-led House of Representatives. Even so, she added: “We're going to fight for public servants, and we're going to get the majority in ’26.”
