Emails to Trump legal team proves they have no idea what Don McGahn said to Robert Mueller

President Donald Trump had a meltdown in wake of reports that White House Counsel Don McGahn was turning into a "rat" against the president. While Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani claimed McGahn testified with approval and support of Trump, The New York Times reported Sunday the legal team has no idea what he said.

The report revealed that an email to current members of Trump's legal team cited John Dowd saying they could exert privilege later, after waving it for McGahn to speak to Mueller.

“President Trump’s lawyers do not know just how much the White House counsel, Donald McGahn, told the special counsel’s investigators during months of interviews, a lapse that has contributed to a growing recognition that an early strategy of full cooperation with the inquiry was a potentially damaging mistake,” The New York Times reported Sunday.

The president’s lawyers said Sunday that they didn't believe McGahn said anything that would hurt the president. However, McGahn's lawyer gave only a small amount of information about what was said to Mueller.

”That has prompted concern among Mr. Trump’s advisers that Mr. McGahn’s statements could help serve as a key component for a damning report by the special counsel,” The Times said.
