George Conway, a vocal critic of President Donald Trump, has entered the crowded race for the seat Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) is vacating in 2026, according to reports Monday.
The conservative lawyer, former Republican and co-founder of the Lincoln Project has filed as a Democrat for the Manhattan-based seat, Politico reported. He's also the ex-husband of Kellyanne Conway, a former counsellor to Trump.
Nadler announced in September he would not seek reelection after 34 years in Congress and would retire ahead of the midterm elections.
At least 10 other people are running for the seat, including John F. Kennedy's only grandson, Jack Schlossberg, March for Our Lives organizer Cameron Kasky, Assemblymen Alex Bores and Micah Lasher and LGBTQ+ advocate Mathew Shurka.
Councilmember Erik Bottcher was also set to run, but dropped out of the New York District 12 race early Monday. He announced in a social post on Instagram that he would instead run for New York State Senate.
