George Zimmerman smears Trayvon Martin's parents: 'They didn't raise their son right'

A defiant George Zimmerman said in an interview published on Tuesday that he still has people seeking to buy the gun he used to kill Trayvon Martin. He also blamed the teen's parents for their fatal 2012 encounter and accused them of exploiting it.

"They didn't raise their son right. He attacked a complete stranger and attempted to kill him," Zimmerman told The Daily Beast, adding, "Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin did everything they could to capitalize on her son's death. She was never a mother figure to him. Tracy Martin couldn't have cared less about their son. He treated him like a dog without a leash."

The couple, he said, needed to have "an internal dialogue to see what they should have done better and what they should have done appropriately."

The interview was published on the heels of Zimmerman's heavily-criticized attempt to auction the gun online. The sale was canceled less than a day after coming to light.

"One of the firmest offers I have with verified assets is $100,000," Zimmerman claimed.

Zimmerman, who was acquitted of murder charges in 2013, defended his stated goal to have proceeds from the sale of the gun go toward combating the Black Lives Matter movement.

"I would take that money and I would make sure that every law enforcement officer and every single civilian who is affected by the Black Lives Matter fraudulent, violent campaign -- those officers, those civilians, their entire families -- were made wealthy beyond their wildest imaginations," he insisted.
