’Why did Giuliani lie?’: Michael Cohen’s lawyer blasts Trump team for getting caught fibbing — again

Lanny Davis, the attorney for President Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen, pounded the president and his legal team for getting caught in a lie during an interview with Good Morning America’s George Stephanopoulos.

Davis, like Cohen himself, said the former Trump attorney is speaking out now because he's tired of being "disparaged" by the president and those close to him.

He accused Trump's lawyer, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, of "inventing words in a transcript that didn't ever get spoken," referencing his claim that the president advised Cohen not to use cash to pay former Playboy model Karen McDougal off when many who listen to the newly-leaked tape hear the opposite. To pay cash would have made the transaction harder to trace, whereas cutting a check leaves a paper trail for legal purposes.

"Why did Giuliani lie about Michael Cohen, saying that he's the one who said 'cash,' just as he lied when he said Donald Trump didn't say [it]," Davis told Stephanopoulos.

"It's about lies and truth," he said.
