GOP senator has 'no comment' on Trump's latest FBI flub while walking back claims of a DOJ 'secret society'

On Wednesday, a Republican senator who went on Fox News with claims he has an informant with intelligence about a "secret society" within the Department of Justice said he had "no comment" about reports that President Donald Trump asked FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe who he voted for.

Sen. Ron Johnson's (R-WI) terse response to Washington Post reporters about Trump's latest FBI flub came amid his own attempts to walk back his comments about his informant.

On Wednesday morning, CNN's Manu Raju tweeted that Johnson clarified his "informant" comments, and echoed claims made the previous night on Fox News by Reps. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) and John Ratcliffe (R-TX), who said they'd read text exchanges between FBI agents discussing the so-called "secret society." Rep. Ratcliffe admitted on air that he was not sure the meeting of the alleged clandestine group "actually happened."
