Former aides and associates of President Donald Trump's under investigation by House Democrats have offered up all kinds of reasons why they haven't complied with documents requests, Politico found in a new analysis.
The analytical report noted that "of the 14 entities and individuals who declined to cooperate, the reasons were wide-ranging."
Former Trump legal team spokesman Mark Corallo, for instance, said he wouldn't share information with the House Judiciary Committee because it's protected by attorney-client privilege.
Julian Assange, the founder of Wikileaks, said he should be allowed to shield himself from the committee's request because he's a journalist, Politico reported.
Former Trump campaign deputy chairman Rick Gates, meanwhile, said he "might assist later, once his cooperation with special counsel Mueller and other prosecutors had ended," the report noted.
The president's longtime confidante Roger Stone has claimed he is declining the request because he'd previously been indicted for lying to Congress.
"Frontier Services Group, the security firm founded by Trump associate Erik Prince, told the committee that it does not have any of the documents it requested," Politico reported. "Several other individuals and entities have told the panel the same."
