Right-wingers rally to defense of country singer whose 'pro-lynching' video got pulled

A country music singer who filmed a music video at the site of an infamous lynching for a song that promoted vigilante justice against Black Lives Matter demonstrators – among others – has become a new icon among right-wing media figures.

The Daily Beast's Justin Baragona reports that right-wing media figures have been rallying around country singer Jason Aldean after his music video for "Try That in a Small Town" got pulled from the CMT rotation.

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy both jumped in to defend the song, with Ramaswamy arguing that the song is defending "the values that ALL Americans used to share - faith, family, hard work, patriotism," despite the fact that it's loaded with references to "good ol' boys" bringing justice to anti-police protesters who engage in acts of vandalism.

"You cross that line, it won't take long for you to find out, I recommend you don't," Aldean warns left-wing demonstrators at one point in the song, as the video shows protests and looting.

MAGA influencer Ryan Fournier, meanwhile, suggested that conservatives start treating CMT like they treated Bud Light and enact a mass boycott of the network.

And "Fox & Friends" cohost Ainsley Earhardt said that the song was obviously about "how great small towns are and we look out for each other" even though it made threats to outsiders to "see how far you make it down the road" if "you try that in a small town."
