U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro is suss — or so say Trump administration insiders.
The U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C.'s bizarre court move this week to convene a special grand jury is raising eyebrows among President Donald Trump's allies and staffers, Semafor reported Friday.
The suspicion, reported White House correspondent Shelby Talcott, is that "Pirro might be trying to get back on President Donald Trump’s good side."
Little is known about the case the special grand jury Pirro convened earlier this week — but experts have called it an "unusual" and "notable" move as it could allow her to sully a Trump foe's reputation without needing to build a criminal case.
And as Talcott noted Friday, Pirro hasn't exactly been in Trump's good graces lately.
Pirro drew Trump's ire earlier this month with her decision to drop vandalism charges against the Olympian canoeist that his administration blamed for their botched renovation of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
"I disagree 100% with Jeanine Pirro," Trump roared on Truth Social. "I don’t know what she was thinking?"
While some people told Semafor Pirro might have since been able to soothe Trump, another source wasn't so sure.
An administration official told Semafor that Pirro's grand jury move was an obvious gambit to "save her job at all costs."
