Jeff Flake reveals why he changed his mind about FBI investigation into Brett Kavanaugh accusations

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) suggested that hearing from "close friends" who were sexually assaulted changed his mind and led to him calling for an FBI investigation into Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

BuzzFeed News' Lissandra Villa tweeted that Flake told reporters that the response to Dr. Christine Blasey Ford's testimony has been "remarkable."

"It has been remarkable over the past week, the number of people who, you know, saw Dr. Ford ... and were emboldened to come out and to say what had happened to them," the Arizona Republican said. "And I've heard from friends, close friends, and had no idea."

Flake's last-minute call for an investigation into Kavanaugh Friday came hours after he said he'd vote to confirm the nominee -- and after a 23-year-old woman confronted him in an elevator about her own assault.
