Attorney General Pam Bondi's Department of Justice reportedly argued that President Donald Trump's pardon covered grenades and stolen classified information found at the home of Jan. 6 defendant Jeremy Brown, a member of the Oath Keepers.
In a 2023 press release, the U.S. Attorney's Office, Middle District of Florida, said Brown was sentenced to prison for over seven years "for possession of unregistered short-barrel firearms, possession of unregistered explosive grenades, improper storage of explosive grenades, and retention of classified information."
"In addition, he was ordered to forfeit the unregistered devices traceable to the offense, pay child support arrears and a special assessment in the amount of $525," the document said.
The items were found during a 2021 search of Brown's home.
"Trial evidence also established that Brown had served as a weapons sergeant in the Special Forces, which would have given him access to M-67 fragmentation grenades," the U.S. Attorney's Office added. "Finally, the evidence established that the classified Trip Report contained highly sensitive information about U.S. Department of Defense intelligence – gathering tactics, techniques, and procedures, including information about a human source that, if released, could have caused the source to be arrested, tortured, or killed."

Politico's Kyle Cheney reported Tuesday that the DOJ said Trump's pardon of the Jan. 6 defendants also included the conviction related to the items found in Brown's home.
"The Pardon provides that '[t]he pardon applies only to convictions for offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021,'" acting U.S. Attorney Sara Sweeney wrote in a motion Thursday. "Based on consultation with Department of Justice leadership, it is the position of the United States that the offenses of conviction in this case are intended to be covered by this Pardon."
The Jan. 6 riot was never mentioned in Brown's six-day trial, although he was initially arrested on charges of trespassing at the Capitol.
