John Kelly refused Trump order to promote Rudy Giuliani's son -- who's now out of the West Wing

Rudy Giuliani's son has lost his West Wing access after chief of staff John Kelly disobeyed President Donald Trump's order to promote him to special assistant.

The president ordered Andrew Giuliani's promotion after dining at Mar-A-Lago with Rudy Giuliani, shortly before Trump hired the former New York City mayor as his personal lawyer, reported Axios.

Trump directed his body man, Jordan Karem, to make sure Kelly promoted the younger Giuliani to special assistant to the president, sources told the website.

But Kelly and other White House officials, including Office of Public Liaison director Justin Clark, refused to promote Giuliani's son because he "subverts the chain of command" and had other, unspecified workplace issues.

A source told Axios that Kelly took away the younger Giuliani's blue visitor's pass about two weeks ago, and he now cannot enter the West Wing without an escort.

Andrew Giuliani is a scratch golfer who has played many times with the president over the years, and he volunteered on the Trump campaign.

He credits the president for helping to mend his relationship with his father after his parents divorced.

The website reported that it's unclear whether Trump knew Kelly had refused to act on his order.
