Mike Flynn's son is subject of federal Russia probe: report

The son of President Donald Trump's disgraced former national security adviser has fallen under investigation for his ties to Russia.

Four current and former government officials have confirmed Michael G. Flynn, whose father is a central figure in the Trump-Russia probe, has become a subject in the federal investigation of foreign interference in the presidential election, reported NBC News.

The inquiry focuses at least in part on the younger Flynn's work for his father's lobbying firm, Flynn Intel Group, according to three current and former officials.

It's not clear when retired Gen. Michael Flynn's son fell under investigation, and his attorney, Barry Coburn, declined to comment.

Federal investigators have targeted Flynn and his son, along with former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, campaign adviser Carter Page, Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner and Donald Trump Jr., the president's son.

The president himself may be under investigation for obstruction of justice in the probe, although he has denied collusion between his campaign and Russian agents.

The elder Flynn resigned after less than a month as national security adviser over his repeated contacts with the Russian ambassador to discuss sanctions during the transition period.

The retired U.S. Army general's paid work for Turkey during the campaign and transition is also under investigation.

Both Flynn and his son traveled to Moscow in 2015 as the father delivered a paid speech for the state-sponsored RT network, which is under FBI investigation for activity during the campaign.
