Republican operative predicts 'pathetic' Trump will call reporters to whimper and do lots of 'sad tweeting' over NYT op-ed

While some pundits predict Donald Trump to unleash fire and fury in retaliation for the anonymous senior administration official's New York Times op-ed, one Republican strategist cautioned that the president's bark is always worse than his bite.

GOP strategist Tim Miller told MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace that he has a "little bit less of an apocalyptic view" than others speculating about what Trump will do next — and that his predictions come from past evidence.

"To date, the president has seemed like he has the potential to be dangerous," Miller said, "but really he's been mostly pathetic."

To illustrate his point, the strategist brought up the case of Trump's Twitter fury against Attorney General Jeff Sessions for recusing himself from the Russia investigation.

"He's done a lot of talk about subverting the justice system, he's done a lot of tweeting about it, he's done a lot of venting about it on background to reporters even though he says that that's a bad thing to do," Miller said, "but he hasn't actually done anything yet."

"We are right to be extremely vigilant," the strategist said, "but, to date, I think what to expect in the next few weeks is a lot more sad tweeting."
