'Rudy -- stop talking': MSNBC legal analyst flattens Giuliani's latest bungled Trump defense

MSNBC legal analyst Danny Cevallos on Monday found himself appalled by Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani's latest botched defense of his client, which he said was particularly bad given that special counsel Robert Mueller had given him an easy out.

On Sunday, Giuliani admitted that former Trump "fixer" Michael Cohen may have discussed his congressional testimony with the president, while also acknowledging that talks to build a Trump Tower in Moscow may have continued right up until Trump got elected president.

Reacting to this, Cevallos was amazed that Giuliani didn't just take the Friday night Mueller statement disputing a bombshell BuzzFeed report, which alleged the president instructed Cohen to lie under oath, and take a victory lap.

"Rudy: Stop talking," he said bluntly. "You had such a win with the special counsel's statement. He could have declared victory, he could have spiked the football... He could have moved with that, but instead he added to it."

Cevallos was also stunned by Giuliani's claim that it would have been "perfectly normal" for Trump to discuss Cohen's testimony with him before he appeared before Congress.

"Rudy knows what he's saying is not accurate... he's a former decorated U.S. attorney," he said. "Paul Manafort got in trouble for doing the exact same thing."
