Seth Meyers: 'I lie because I'm stupid is the truest thing Trump has ever said'

During Seth Meyers' "Closer Look" segment, the "Late Night" host couldn't help diving into the long history of President Donald Trump's infrequent relationship with the truth.

Meyers cited the audio recording of Trump at a Missouri fundraiser this week that surfaced, in which the president admits he lied to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. It's now been discovered that meeting with Trudeau never took place.

"In fairness, 'I lie because I'm stupid' is the truest thing Trump has ever said," Meyers said of Trump's comments to the fundraiser crowd.

Meyers then turned to Trump's bizarre statement about "the bowling ball test." The accusation was that Japan drops bowling balls on cars and if the cars dent they refuse to import. "It's horrible," Trump said. "It's horrible the way we're treated. It's horrible."

"What are you talking about?" Meyers asked. "Are you sure someone didn't drop a bowling ball on your head?" In a Trump impression, Meyers said that it didn't make a dent and "you should see the bowling ball."

He went on to compare the White House to the restaurant people worked for in college where "if you took two days off you came back there'd be four trainees and a new manager and now there's moussaka on the menu and you thought, 'Oh, this place isn't going to make it.'"
