A co-host of Steve Bannon's "War Room" podcast warned on the eve of Bannon's release from prison that "retribution is coming."
Bannon, who was appointed in 2016 as CEO of the Trump campaign and later as chief strategist after Trump's election to the White House, is finishing a four-month prison sentence in Danbury, Connecticut, after being found in contempt of Congress for refusing to testify to Jan. 6 investigators. He was set to be freed on Tuesday.
Natalie Winters, a co-host on Bannon's show, addressed a comedian's racist remarks — calling Puerto Rico a "floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean" — at a rally for former President Donald Trump over the weekend to the right-wing Real America's Voice.
"I wish that the worst thing that our ruling class, that our American elites, could do to this country would be, let's say, call us a floating island of trash," she said. "Apparently you can't say that about Puerto Rico."

Winters railed that what American elites have done is "so much frickin worse" — treated Americans like "absolute trash." Her rant then moved to a familiar right-wing talking point that the Democratic-led federal government sent taxpayer dollars to other countries rather than its own citizens, even amid a "wide open" border.
She raged that some of that money also went to prosecuting and jailing her boss.
"That's the [return on investment] that you get," said Winters, adding that taxpayer dollars went to "imprison arguably one of the most important patriots to have ever existed in the history of this country."
"The MAGA-equivalent of George Washington," she said.
Winters said that in the "same way Paul Revere had his midnight ride" warning of "the British are coming," Bannon will make his "midnight ride back to the War Room tonight."
She then issued an ominous warning.
"He won't be saying, 'The British are coming.' He'll be saying, 'Retribution is coming.' And rightfully so and it's long overdue."
Winters confirmed Bannon will be back on the air Tuesday morning.
“Today is not a day of victory... it should be a day of anger," she said.
Winters' comments come amid reports that Bannon has taught a civics class to a group of fellow inmates, including a Jan. 6 rioter. Sources told Rolling Stone that about 50 inmates, most of whom seemed to be Trump supporters, wanted to learn about the government and the Constitution.
