President Donald Trump Monday reacted to news that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) would not seek reelection for another term as the state's governor, attacking his longtime foe.
Walz cited Trump's attacks on his state and pointed to an ongoing daycare fraud investigation for reasons to why he was dropping out. Following a viral fraud hoax video from MAGA influencer Nick Shirley last week, Trump freezed childcare funding to every state in the US after initially suspending funds for Minnesota.
Trump wrote the following on his Truth Social platform:
"Minnesota’s Corrupt Governor will possibly leave office before his Term is up but, in any event, will not be running again because he was caught, REDHANDED, along with Ilhan Omar, and others of his Somali friends, stealing Tens of Billions of Taxpayer Dollars. I feel certain the facts will come out, and they will reveal a seriously unscrupulous, and rich, group of 'SLIMEBALLS.' Governor Walz has destroyed the State of Minnesota, but others, like Governor Gavin Newscum, JB Pritzker, and Kathy Hochul, have done, in my opinion, an even more dishonest and incompetent job. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW!
Walz and Trump have had a very public battle, including recent unfounded comments from Trump that Walz was involved in the deaths of Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark Hortman.
Trump has also said that Walz is "seriously r-----ed," using a derogatory term that prompted others to harass him at his home and in public.
