President Donald Trump issued an over-the-top denial of a report suggesting that he's concerned about Vice President Mike Pence's loyalty.
The New York Times reported Friday that Trump has been alarming advisers by repeatedly asking them to assure him of Pence's loyalty -- but the president insists that's not accurate.
"The New York Times did a phony story, as usual, about my relationship with @VP Mike Pence," Trump tweeted. "They made up sources and refused to ask me, the only one that would know, for a quote."
He assured his followers that he and Pence remained exceptionally close, despite reports that Trump might replace his vice president on the 2020 ticket.
"I can’t imagine any President having a better or closer relationship with their Vice President then the two of us," he tweeted. "Just more FAKE NEWS, the Enemy of the People!"
