Trump campaign staffer nailed for racist Facebook posts joins Department of Education

A Donald Trump campaign staffer who made racist social media posts during the 2016 election is joining the Department of Education, the Huffington Post reports.

In an email sent to Education Department employees, acting secretary Phil Rosentfelt and White House adviser for education Jason Botel listed members of the “new administration team.” Among the names was Teresa UnRue, a former South Carolina field organizer who posted a video on Facebook of a black man eating fried chicken and berating other black people for having too many children.

“Had me crack’n up!! Thank you! Please share this with people,” UnRue wrote on the video.

The staffer also shared her opinion of Muslims on Facebook; following the Orlando nightclub shooting, she shared a photo reading, “We need Islam control, not gun control.”

UnRue is far from the only Trump booster in the US education sector who’s made racist and derogatory remarks. Carl Paladino, a member of the Buffalo Board of Education, drew fire last December after “wishing” former President Barack Obama would "catch mad cow disease after being caught having relations with a Herford." Paladino also suggested Michelle Obama should “return to being a male and let loose in the outback of Zimbabwe.”

Despite the outcry over his remarks, Paladino refuses to resign from the Buffalo school board.
