Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) is running out of road, according to an analysis from a local journalist.
A fresh batch of ballots from Arapahoe County added 65 votes to Democrat Eileen Laubacher’s lead in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District on Saturday, according to Denver 9NEWS anchor Kyle Clark.
“Laubacher’s lead is now 3,237 votes (0.85%), well over the recount threshold of 930 votes,” Clark wrote on X.
“As I’ve said since Wednesday AM, I don’t see how Boebert closes the gap,” he added.
With more than 95% of the vote counted, Laubacher leads Boebert 185,923 votes to 182,686, or 48.77% to 47.92%, according to Associated Press results published by The New York Times.
When a follower asked why the count was taking so long, Clark said the delay is normal.
“What’s happening is not unusual,” Clark wrote. “The votes trickling in now are cured ballots, military ballots, and those dropped off in other counties that had to be transferred to the county where the voter lives.”
Laubacher’s lead is now more than three times the margin that would trigger an automatic recount in Colorado.
A loss would be a stunning end for Boebert, one of the House’s most prominent MAGA firebrands. She moved to the deep-red 4th District in 2024 after nearly losing her old seat in Colorado’s 3rd District in 2022. Her defeat would add to a historic week for Democrats, who flipped both chambers of Congress on Tuesday.
The AP had not called the race as of Sunday morning.
