Trump fan confused after Fox & Friends host reminds him the president can’t fire Nancy Pelosi

A "Fox & Friends" host was forced to make a seemingly obvious on-air correction to an ornery Indiana diner.

Pete Hegseth visited Grandma's Pancake House in Shelbyville, just outside Indianapolis, to ask diners about the incoming Democratic House majority.

"Phil, your take as President Trump stares down a new speaker, Nancy Pelosi," Hegseth asked an elderly man.

The man said he expected to see the situation unfold like an episode of Donald Trump's NBC reality show, "The Apprentice."

"I'm expecting to wake up some morning and find (on) Fox News, Trump on there pointing his finger, (saying), 'You're fired, Democrats,'" said the man, identified only as Phil.

Hegseth and the other diners laughed, and the anchor joked, "Maybe that needs to happen, right?"

Then Phil appeared to get confused or nervous about being on television.

"They say humans learn to speak 3 years of age, put a microphone in front of them, they clam up," Phil said.

Hegseth assured the man he had done fine, and then reminded viewers of facts about constitutional law.

"He can't fire the Democrats, but he can stare them down, and that is the big question here -- will the president stand firm in a showdown?" Hegseth said.

The anchor said the Indiana residents he spoke to had not yet felt the effects of the shutdown, and he said the customers he found eating breakfast at a diner on a weekday morning seemed to support the president's position.

"Here in this corner of Indiana, they would rather see the president stand strong get money for the wall," Hegseth said.
