President Donald Trump’s revenge campaign is now taking a swing through staff at the National Archives involved in the efforts to have government documents found at his Mar-a-Lago residence returned, according to Rolling Stone.
That includes staffers who played direct roles in the records standoff with the then-former president – and even some who weren’t, the report said. They are all part of a “list” Trump asked advisers to compile after his election victory in November of staffers at the government agency to fire as part of his vow to carry out retribution on his critics and those involved in his prosecutions.
“There are some in Trump’s ear who want him to oust everybody on the list,” Rolling Stone reported. “There are others close to Trump, including some senior White House staff, who think the final list of Archives staff to dismiss should be more carefully curated, as there are some names on the initial list who they feel were just doing their jobs and not worthy of blackballing.”

William Bosanko, deputy archivist of the United States, is also a potential target on the “purge list,” which has been vetted by Trump administration officials, according to the magazine. However, there are concerns within Trump’s circle surrounding the legality of his firing.
“However, it is the position of the upper crust of the second Trump administration that the law — and the Constitution — should not get in the way of what the president, and his purge-buddy Elon Musk, want to do,” Rolling Stone noted.
The report comes as officials at the nonpartisan National Archives prepare to be next as part of Trump’s ongoing attempt to purge government personnel following the dismissal of its head last week. Staff at the agency are “talking in terms of inevitability,” a source told the magazine, who added that “it’s been grim,” according to the report.
