A seven-year-old has been charged with intentionally setting their West Virginia home on fire while their parents slept, 13 News reported.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department said two people received minor burns in the fire but made it out of the house safely.
The 7-year-old faces a first-degree arson charge. Officials said they won't share more details about the investigation due to the “sensitive nature of the case," The News & Observer reported.
MSNBC's Claire McCaskill isn't buying the excuse that Donald Trump kept classified documents as keepsakes from his presidency and instead suggested he was planning on selling them.
The former president has been indicted on charges related to the Espionage Act, and both McCaskill and "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough hinted darkly that Trump was involved in trading top-secret national security information for personal gain.
"He put stooges in high places in the intelligence community to ensure that they would be able to control any revelations they might produce that he saw as threatening," Scarborough said, "and perhaps to enable him to come up with dirt on his enemies. He said he would fire the professionals in the U.S. government in a clear effort to be able to replace them with those who placed loyalty to him above loyalty to the country or our Constitution. Now, this is all known, this is all on the public record. He was a threat to national security long before he stole those classified materials and went to great lengths to illegally retain them."
"On top of that he, after Congress approved weapons for Ukraine, add on top of that, that he blackmailed [Volodymyr] Zelenskyy and said, 'You're not going to get these weapons until you give me dirt on Joe Biden and Joe Biden's family," Scarborough added. "Add on top of that the Marco Rubio-led intel community in the United States Senate said, let's underline this, Donald Trump's 2016 campaign posed a direct threat to America's national security. That's just what we know. These people suggesting that he didn't have malicious intent in mind, they're ignoring a very, very long paper trail."

McCaskill agreed that Trump posed a national security threat and speculated that he was planning to sell classified materials to Saudi Arabia.
"It's just fascinating to me that people in Congress who understand the consequences of what he has done and how he has done it, continue to defend him," she said. "I mean, you know, we've talked about what he would do with these documents. One of the things ... is that he could use them to continue to curry favor with Saudi Arabia, and what could Saudi Arabia do for Donald Trump right now? They could cut production of oil and raise gas prices. Nothing could hurt Joe Biden more than raising gas prices next year, three, four months from the election, and Trump knows that."
"He is willing to do anything to do two things: promote himself and make money, country be damned," McCaskill added.
Scarborough suggested the former president had another motive for selling U.S. intelligence information to the Saudis.
"It's so fascinating that you say that, Claire," he said. "On the Drudge Report, there are all the headlines about the indictments, but at the very top, the headline, 'Saudi crown prince threatened major economic pain on the U.S. amid oil feuds,' and by the way, what was Donald Trump angry about regarding his son-in-law, Jared Kushner? That Jared Kushner got $2 billion for his fund from the Saudis and he didn't get a cut of it. According to reports, he was enraged that he didn't get a cut of the money that Jared went out and raised after he left the White House."
"Maybe, this is again speculation," Scarborough added, "we're not exactly sure why they're not communicating as much, but there was a real bitterness that he didn't get a cut of that money, and there's no doubt he wants a cut, not only of that money, but of Saudi money."

As former President Donald Trump prepares for criminal proceedings against him on seven federal charges stemming from the classified documents investigation, Republicans have howled with outrage, echoing the former president's claims he is being persecuted.
However, despite a few Senate Republicans publicly attacking the indictment, GOP Senate leadership, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), have been conspicuously quiet. Speaking to CNN on Friday, congressional reporter Lauren Fox explained why.
"I'm going to put you on the spot here, and transfer our six-year running congress nerd text chain back and forth on to television," said anchor Phil Mattingly. "Senate Republican leadership has not said anything. I am neither surprised by that fact, nor do I think you are. Take people behind the scenes. Why?"
"I mean, the relationship with Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump is nonexistent, right, and has been since the insurrection on January 6th," said Fox. "That is part of the reason why we haven't seen a response from Mitch McConnell, although I do think there's something to be said about people wanting more information."
McConnell isn't alone, though, Fox noted — for instance, Minority Whip John Thune (R-SD) has also not offered any public comment on the matter yet either.
"The reality is that many Senate Republicans would like to move on beyond Donald Trump," said Fox. "They don't want to be involved in the day-to-day nitty-gritty responding to everything that the former president does. Obviously, they are going to have to respond when they return to Washington next week. This is going to be the first question at a Republican press conference on Tuesday that lawmakers hold, but there is a reason that they are holding back, and part of that is they believe that it's just not worth defending the former president."

Rep. Daniel Goldman (D-NY), who also served as an attorney in the first impeachment of former President Donald Trump, said that a new bombshell recording of Trump knocks down the former president's defense strategy in the Mar-a-Lago documents scandal.
Appearing on CNN shortly after the network revealed the recording, Goldman marveled about Trump bragging to guests at Mar-a-Lago that he had "secret" military information that he had not declassified.
"Every single thing Donald Trump ever said can be admitted at a trial," Goldman explained. "And so what you have here is him admitting in secret that he knows that the documents he had were not declassified and he knows that they are classified information. The difference between a criminal case and any civil case is you have to show that knowledge."
Goldman said that the recording's existence will also help differentiate Trump's handling of classified documents with the handling of classified documents by President Joe Biden and former Vice President Mike Pence.

"That's what draws a distinction between Donald Trump's case and Joe Biden and Mike Pence, where the question here is, is it knowingly and intentionally done to maintain possession of those documents and then to refuse to give them back?" he said. "And so what he is essentially doing is neutering all of the public defenses that he made. The prosecutors will be able show his public defense and then show the recording and it will eviscerate all of the credibility of his defense."
