GOP rejects Dems' health care rescue bill in Senate as massive premium spikes loom

The Senate failed to pass either of the competing plans to fix the looming health care crisis, setting up the expiration of the Affordable Care Act's extended subsidies at the end of the year with no clear plan to help people whose premiums will spike.

According to ABC News, the Democrats' plan, which was a clean three-year extension of ACA subsidies, was broadly rejected by the GOP. Four Republican senators — Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME), Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan (R-AK), and Josh Hawley (R-MO), crossed over to back the Democratic plan, giving it 51 votes, but falling short of the 60 votes needed.

Trump DOJ fails — again — to indict Letitia James in revenge bid

President Donald Trump's Justice Department suffered yet another humiliating setback on Thursday, as a grand jury in Virginia refused to return a fraud indictment against New York Attorney General Letitia James — the second time this has happened since the original case against her was thrown out.

According to ABC News, "Federal prosecutors on Thursday failed to convince a majority of grand jurors to approve charges that James misled a bank to obtain favorable loan terms on a home mortgage, according to sources. The charges were presented to a grand jury in the Eastern District of Virginia's Alexandria branch after a grand jury in Norfolk, Virginia, last week rejected the charges."

'Astonishing scene': Shockwaves as Kristi Noem confronted by veteran on Capitol Hill

Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem on Thursday was forced to face a combat veteran whose Irish wife has remained in prison for four months and is facing deportation over two bad checks she wrote 10 years ago — and the internet didn't hold back.

Noem, who is rumored to be on the chopping block, was confronted during the House Homeland Security Committee with a question from Rep. Seth Magaziner (D-RI), who followed up her claim, “We have not deported U.S. citizens or military veterans,” by asking, “I don't believe you served in the military. I haven't either, but I think you and I can agree that, as Americans, we owe everything to those who have served our country in uniform, particularly those who have served in combat. Do you agree with that?”

GOP congressman accuses Trump admin of 'trying to hide' video of controversial strike

The longer President Donald Trump's administration delays releasing the video of the deadly September 2, 2025 boat strike in the Caribbean Sea, the more suspicious they appear, according to one Republican member of the House of Representatives.

CNN correspondent Manu Raju reported Wednesday that Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) — who is the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee — issued a new call for the Department of Defense to release the video of the strike, which reportedly shows a U.S. missile blowing up a boat with 11 people on board, before a second missile blows up two survivors clinging to the boat's wreckage roughly 40 minutes later.

President Donald Trump's approval rating has plummeted to its lowest point yet, according to new polling results released Thursday.

Results from a new AP-NORC poll showed that Americans have grown further dissatisfied with Trump's handling of the economy and immigration, a clear sign that these could make his party vulnerable ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, The Associated Press reported. Only 31% of U.S. adults said they approve of how Trump is handling the economy, which is down 40% from March and "marks the lowest economic approval he’s registered in an AP-NORC poll in his first or second term."
